TINTED SPICE JARS

I was given a free hand to look for a suitable type of glass jar for my customer to put her spices on her kitchen top. While scouting around at IKEA, I finally got my eyes hooked on this particular jar as the shape is unique and has a light grey tint.


For the design, instead of using spices as the motif, I opted to use some of the ingredients  normally used in our daily cooking: Chilli, Onion, Lemon, Lime, Spring Onion and Mushroom. Designs are painted on 2 sides with white outline; and the top and bottom borders are painted around the jars.

SUNFLOWER COOKIE JAR

The unique shape of the jar inspired me to add colours and design to it; and somehow was inclined to use sunflower motif on alternate squares, and played around with autumn colours. I used pewter colour for the outline to match the jar lid.

Suggestions for usage: Fill it with cookies, lollipops, jelly beans or candies. Or, remove the lid and fill with potpourri as table display. Add creativity by replacing the lid with a matching ribbon wrapped around the mouth of the jar!

PAISLEY VASE

As per customer's request, Paisley motif was used. I chose white outlines filled with earthen tones to match the existing interior decorations in her living room. Designs were painted on all sides. It took me about 2 weeks to complete and I must say that this is my favourite piece so far..

Originally this is a ceramic soup bowl but I figured it will be of better use as a potpourri bowl instead. 
I used orange as the main background colour and created a rustic look in the hollow centre by adding gold and brown; and
gold-stamped leaf design around the rim.

I was commissioned to transform these plain clear cookie jars into something lively and colourful. So I applied graphic-styled images of vegetables using white outlines on the flat lids; and to compliment the look I painted the base of each jar to match the colour of it's respective lid.

ROSE BATIK VASE

This was a commissioned work.
The customer loves roses and requested to have the theme in purple shades. I outlined the roses in white to make it batik-like and embellished it with matching rhinestones. Designs are painted on all sides.

3-PC FISH ENSEMBLE

This was a commissioned work; a wall display for an office of a business owner.
The customer wanted the theme colour to be yellow, red and black (the corporate colours of Malay College of Kuala Kangsar or MCKK). I decided to use 3 ceramic fish plates as the motif; and as according to Chinese belief, fish and the number 3 are good for prosperity.
Since the colours are bright and striking; I box-framed it in black with gold trimmings.

SPIDER WEB VASE

I got the idea to use spider web as a motif when I was flicking through my nephew's Spider Man comic book. I used white for the outline as what a real spider web looks like; and fill them with indigo and blue hues to give it a modern contemporary look and embellished it with matching rhinestones. This piece took me about 3 weeks to complete as the design practically covers the whole vase surface.

The original vase is clear but I made the background frosted in white. However, I kept the flower design transparent so you can actually see two different effects. Gold outline and embellishment were used to enhance the vibrant red and green colours.
